Who is eligible for a tax credit?

Individuals and families are eligible for the Working Families Tax Credit if they meet all of the following requirements:

What are the income requirements?

The 2024 credit amount varies depending on the number of qualifying children and income level.

The maximum credit amount ranges from $325 to $1,290, depending on the number of qualifying children. These amounts are then reduced based on income thresholds, similar to the federal program, EITC. The minimum credit amount is $50, regardless of the number of qualifying children. 

Applicants must earn less than the following amounts to receive the credit.

What you’ll need to apply 

To apply for the Working Families Tax Credit, you will need the following: 

  • A copy of your federal tax return that you filed with the IRS. 
  • Your Social Security Number or ITIN, and dates of birth for you, your spouse, and children.  
  • Your Washington state driver’s license or ID number (if you have one). 
  • Your residential and mailing address.  
  • Your bank routing number and account number if you choose direct deposit.
