If you did not receive a letter, you don’t need to take action on this page.
If you received a letter, you must verify your identity within 30 days of the date on your letter.

- How do I verify my identity online?

- Click the Verify My Identity button.
- Enter the One-Time PIN you received with your letter.
- Click the Next button.
- Enter the last four digits of your Social Security Number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number in the Last 4 SSN or ITIN field.
- Click the Next button.
- Select the option that best represents your situation using the radio button and click the Next button.
- If you select I did file this application, continue to Step 7.
- If you select I have authorized someone else to file this application on my behalf, continue to Step 7.
- If you select I did not file this application or authorize anyone else to file on my behalf, enter your Name, Phone, and Email, and click the Next button to submit the form.
- If you see the message Your information has been verified. The application will move to the next state of review. you have successfully verified your identity.
If you see the ID Verification Quiz page, review the information, then click Next to answer the questions.- If your responses match our records, you have successfully verified your identity.
- If you fail to answer enough questions correctly, you will need to provide additional documentation to verify your identity. Click Next to continue to the Document Upload page.
- If you see the Document Upload page, review the information then click the Next button.
- You must provide documentation for your Name, Identity, Date of Birth, and Residency.
- Click the Name link in the Requirements Met panel and select the document you will upload by clicking the document name.
- The document will be selected in the Documents panel to upload.
- A checkmark will appear next to each identification criteria satisfied by uploading the selected document.
- In the Documents panel, click the Upload button and select the file.
- The document will be uploaded and visible in the Documents panel.
- If you uploaded the wrong document, click the Remove Upload button below the document and repeat Step 9.
- The identification criteria satisfied by the document will be indicated with a green checkmark in the Requirements Met panel.
- If necessary, click the Identity link in the Requirements Met panel and select the document you will upload by clicking the document name.
- The document will be selected in the Documents panel to upload.
- A checkmark will appear next to each identification criteria satisfied by uploading the selected document.
- In the Documents panel, click the Upload button and select the file.
- The document will be uploaded and visible in the Documents panel.
- If you uploaded the wrong document, click the Remove Upload button below the document and repeat Step 11.

- What information will I need to provide?

You will need to provide the PIN number listed on the letter you received. You may also need to provide additional documents to prove your identity.
- Why did I receive a letter asking me to verify my identity?

When you apply for the Working Families Tax Credit, we may request you to verify your identity. This helps protect you from fraud and maintains our WFTC program’s integrity.
- What if I did not file an application?

If you did not submit an application or believe someone filed a fraudulent application using your information, click the Verify My Identity button above and select “No - I did not file this application or authorize anyone to file on my behalf.”

You have 30 days from the date of the letter to verify your identity. If you don’t respond, your application will be denied. If denied, you will need to resubmit your application.
- What happens if I lost my letter and do not have the PIN number?
