Who is eligible for a tax credit?

Individuals and families are eligible for the Working Families Tax Credit if they meet all of the following requirements:

What are the income requirements?

The credit amount varies depending on the number of qualifying children and income level.

The maximum credit amount ranges from $300 to $1,200 depending on the number of qualifying children (see table below). These amounts are then reduced based on income thresholds, similar to the federal program. The minimum credit amount is $50, regardless of the number of qualifying children.

What you’ll need to apply 

To apply for the Working Families Tax Credit, you will need the following: 

  • A copy of your federal tax return that you filed with the IRS. 
  • Your Social Security Number or ITIN, and dates of birth for you, your spouse, and children.  
  • Your Washington state driver’s license or ID number (if you have one). 
  • Your residential and mailing address.  
  • Your bank routing number and account number if you choose direct deposit.
